Hey everyone,

First of all I’d like to thank you for your patience and the fantastic response we have had to the mailing list!  Things at CFG have been moving fairly steadily and it is looking promising for a soft launch mid/late August and an official launch come September.  As some of you know already the intended address is 27/29 Commerce Street, just 5 minutes walk from Central Station and a few minutes from Bridge Street underground.

I am not prepared to give away all of the details, however the gym will be licensed to operate 7 days a week, with suitable membership options and offer a variety of specialist services such as Olympic Lifting, Parkour, Powerlifting and Palaeo Challenge with hopes to host football and nutrition certs in the near future.

I have sourced a large range of equipment from Rogue Europe, have bought the flooring and steel and even found a welder to start building the rig.  All I am waiting on is the landlord’s construction of the showers and toilets before I finalise and sign the lease.  We are always on the look out for new staff and CrossFit enthusiasts so if you fancy coaching or wish to learn then please get in touch.  Gavin will also be registering a weightlifting club which he will operate from the gym with the help of Harris and Raymond.  It is only £18 to become a member for the year and it would help us greatly in establishing ourselves in Glasgow.

As opening nears we have taken the time to travel to other boxes and visit other clubs and events around Glasgow, look out for the Roots of Movement this weekend at the Kelvinhall, a dedicated parkour and freerunning event.  The Highland Games also take place on Saturday at Glasgow Green.  28th of August sees Kilmarnock Weightlifting Club host the Scottish under 18, 23 and Scottish Western Districts Olympic weightlifting championship.  November 11th sees Glasgow Barbell Club host the 2011 World Powerlifting Championships.

If you are hosting, taking part or simply want to notify us of any events then please get in touch on the FaceBook group and we will post it.  A special mention must go to Ron and Neil of  Basix Gym (CrossFit Scotland), for their hospitality and advice, if you’re ever in Irvine I suggest you stop by.

We are also starting a new Palaeo Challenge in September so get in touch with myself or Gavin for details.  Please check the FaceBook groups (paleospartan and CrossFit Glasgow) regularly for updates.

Iain.
