Announcements

This week sees a return to regular programming: Thank you all for your involvement during the Games.

The showers will be out of service today but should be back in use tomorrow. Thank you for your patience while we refurbished the facilities: I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

Our new rig should be with us in the next 2 weeks – perhaps not that relevant right now but it should be sweet.

End of the Open

The CrossFit Games Open has come to a close after 5 weeks of speculation, anticipation and hard work. The gym was packed out every weekend with the amazing support and the dedication of our own athletic community and it is testament to the ethos that pervades CrossFit Glasgow that we closed out the games as the largest team in Europe and the only European team to make the top 10 largest teams in the world. We will endeavour to make CFG a world force every year from here on in through our ongoing participation in the CrossFit community at large and by continuing to develop our athletes, our coaching and our facility as world leaders in the sport.

The Open is a huge part of our annual calendar and we hope that you have all enjoyed being a part of it. Whether this is your 3rd year or your first; whether you finished in the top 10 or the top 100 in the gym: the open gives a very definite measure of where you are as an athlete and highlights areas of strength and weakness for all. This time next year you will each paint a very different impression of yourselves.

We’d like to thank all the athletes that took part in the Games this year: you all contributed to making CrossFit Glasgow an international force and created an electrifying atmosphere that fostered an air of comfort and support for all athletes regardless of experience or ability. Personal records were set multiple times every weekend. People surprised themselves with last gasp reps in movements that tested the limits of their potential and an entire community of hundreds of people cheered as they did. We’d like to thank all the volunteer judges and those that found the time to come and help despite full time jobs, family commitments and even being pregnant: we could not have done it without you.

At the time of writing CFG sit in 39th place in Europe as a team. We have missed out on regionals this year but we will be back next year bigger, stronger and more accomplished. Steph Dekker, our newest head coach, is sitting in 15th place in Europe and 4th in the UK. Steph will represent CFG in Denmark for her first Individual event: watch this space people; this girl is the future of UK CrossFit.

This year’s Games Open has been the most rewarding time in the history of CrossFit Glasgow and we extend each and every one of you who participated a sincere thank you. We can’t wait for next year.
