Workout of the Day

TBC

Ho ho ho! Merry Fitness! Welcome to CrossFit Games Open Eve.

The Open is the single best time on the CrossFit calendar for us and we want to make sure that it is as special, fun and exciting as possible. We will do our very best to be turbo organised for you all and to make it go off seamlessly.
The Open workouts will run from first thing on Friday morning right through the weekend and close after the last class on Monday. All scores must be submitted by the end of Monday evening – say midnight for ease of reference. There is nothing we can do if you fail to enter a score on time, sorry.
So, here’s how it works:
Tomorrow morning at about 01:00 Dave Castro will announce workout 18.1 and two games athletes will go head to head. Then, at 05:00 Iain, myself and the team will set up the gym for the workout. At 06:15 the class will begin with a workout brief and summary of movement standards; then you will move to A2 for a predetermined warm up and skills assistance for those that require it; then you will return to A1 to stage for heats.
Heats will be prioritised to those that need to get to work sharpest. Half the heat will be athletes and the other half judges (for counting). The athletes do the WOD while the judges score it, then we do the old switcheroo – athletes become judges, judges become athletes.
Scorecards can be picked up from a tray at the office and completed scorecards returned to a similar tray.
THIS WEEKEND we have a problem. We are also hosting Scotland’s first level 2 seminar for 3 years. Consequently the gym will be off limits between 07:30 and 18:30. This is extremely strict and no exceptions can be made. We’re very sorry but these are the rules laid out by CrossFit HQ. This means that there will be no, Kids, Weightlifting or team WOD this weekend. However, the gym will be accessible from 06:00 to 07:00 and we will open again from 18:30 until 21:00 again if anyone wishes to tackle the Open WOD at those times.
Thank you all so much for signing up, we just broke through last year’s total of 257 registered members and we are only 20 names off the largest recorded European team ever. We could genuinely hit 300 if everyone committed themselves to putting CFG on the map. We made it onto the Games Facebook page today and next week we will have CrossFit HQ on site to film the biggest team in Europe tackling 18.2. When we started out almost a decade ago this was literally the stuff that dreams were made of – we are more grateful to you all than we can ever adequately convey.
Come along, do your very best, cheer for your mates, cheer for some strangers and literally be a part of CrossFit Games history.
