CrossFit is a metabolic conditioning program designed to maximise your fitness for anything from getting up the stars without using the banister to running 100 miles. It works. Not only that, but when implemented correctly it works.
It was created by Coach Greg Glassman, through years of pursuing his “belief in fitness” – the idea that there is a fitness that will lend itself generally well to performing any task set in front of the individual. This being called a General Physical Preparedness GPP.
CrossFit is:
Entirely scalable. Grandma can do the same workout as Linford Christie, adapted to suit her capabilities.
Functional. All movements in CrossFit reflect those which are efficient and have been performed since time began. Like lifting things from the floor to overhead.
Short duration. You need not spend hours in the gym or running for miles to attain a fitness level you thought impossible.
Results driven. Force x Distance over Time. Every workout you do can be measured and the result logged.
Effective. Whatever your fitness level, you will improve and will continue to improve for years to come.
Enlightening. You’ll learn about effective human movement through practice and human health through listening.
Safe. CrossFit equips you to remain injury free by teaching you mastery of technique.
Useful. What you learn will give you more energy, strength, flexibility and knowledge to apply to every day life.
Caring. CrossFit coaches and athletes around the world focus on turning the tide against ill health and avoidable disease.
Fun. The most important aspect of training. You won’t get bored. Ever.
