Work begins at CrossFit Glasgow! After a fantastic weekend at Stuart and Elaine's wedding (awesome) work started today at the new gym.  A large number showed up in support and the space was quickly dusted, mopped and cleaned multiple times in preparation for the flooring arriving on Monday. Equipment follows on Tuesday.  We are well on track to be open by September 5th however if you can't wait until then please contact me on my mobile number and stop by and see the space.  We are always looking for willing painters, tilers, welders etc so if you have any skills and some free time then let us know. Membership prices will be published from Thursday and the online booking system will also begin to work from the 1st of September to give you time to familiarise yourself with the system. For more photos from today please see our Flickr page.

90 Day Palaeo Challenge – Cycle 2

By |2011-08-24T23:29:10+01:00August 24th, 2011|Information|

Cycle 2 of the 90 Day Palaeo Challenge will be available for sign-up soon. We had some great results for those who completed the previous cycle and for the pilot cycle and we hope to build on this success. A summary of the previous results will be released on paleospartan.com in the near future. We hope to start the challenge as soon as the new facility is up and running but if you want to start 'tapering off' your normal diet to a more 'palaeoesque' one now, by all means do so. It will carry a normal price of £120 but a one-off discount may be applied if you sign up upon taking membership at CrossFit Glasgow - thereby reducing the price to £90. More information will be released in relation to the challenge via facebook, paleospartan.com and crossfitglasgow.com over the coming days to weeks. In addition, the Elite section of paleospartan.com has had some important updates so, if you think you're up for the cut, check that out too. Looking forwards to seeing you all at CFG, Gavin and Iain

16th August 2011

By |2011-08-16T16:03:44+01:00August 16th, 2011|Information|

Hey everyone,   Just an update on things that have gone on in the past week.  Saturday, the Highland Games were hosted at Glasgow Green along with the piping championships.  The rain stayed away and it turned out to be a fantastic day.  Davie Easton (for those that know him) competed in the Local Heroes team events for Strength Shop and finished 2nd place.  Events included log lifts, atlas stones, deadlift and farmers walks. On Sunday the staff of CFG were at the Kelvinhall raising the profile of CrossFit and participating in Roots of Movement, Scotland's National Parkour Event.  It was a tremendous success with almost 150 participants coming from as far as Japan, a special thank you is in order to Chris Grant for inviting us along and for hosting such a well-organised event.  If you're interested in next year's event or curious to see what it's all about then please check out Glasgow Parkour's Webpage I'm certain pictures of the event will be up soon. As for developments at CFG there have been a few hold-ups.  The construction of the toilets and showers by the owners is taking a little longer than anticipated and pushing the projected lease signing back towards the end of the month.  Equipment is still looking good to arrive around next week.  The flooring is waiting to be delivered and the steel for fabricating the rig has been ordered and arrives on Thursday.  As soon as we have the lease we will let you all [...]

Behind the scenes

Hey everyone, First of all I'd like to thank you for your patience and the fantastic response we have had to the mailing list!  Things at CFG have been moving fairly steadily and it is looking promising for a soft launch mid/late August and an official launch come September.  As some of you know already the intended address is 27/29 Commerce Street, just 5 minutes walk from Central Station and a few minutes from Bridge Street underground. I am not prepared to give away all of the details, however the gym will be licensed to operate 7 days a week, with suitable membership options and offer a variety of specialist services such as Olympic Lifting, Parkour, Powerlifting and Palaeo Challenge with hopes to host football and nutrition certs in the near future. I have sourced a large range of equipment from Rogue Europe, have bought the flooring and steel and even found a welder to start building the rig.  All I am waiting on is the landlord's construction of the showers and toilets before I finalise and sign the lease.  We are always on the look out for new staff and CrossFit enthusiasts so if you fancy coaching or wish to learn then please get in touch.  Gavin will also be registering a weightlifting club which he will operate from the gym with the help of Harris and Raymond.  It is only £18 to become a member for the year and it would help us greatly in establishing ourselves in Glasgow. As [...]
